Earth Patch

Purpose:
Provides stability and a sense of safety, especially when dealing with survival and basic needs.

Attainment:
Overcoming fear that prevents growth.

Maintenance:
Balancing fear and bravery.

Fearful Fox’s fear blocks the Earth Patch, and the only way to open it is for Brave Bear’s courage to lead the way. Together, they take these steps:

  • Acknowledge Fear: Fearful Fox acknowledges the fear and recognizes its role. Fear is valid, especially when there is real danger, and it can keep them safe. #758FC8
  • Invite Courage: Brave Bear steps forward and brings courage into the situation. Brave Bear helps to see the real danger for what it is and takes intentional steps forward.
  • Face the Fear: Rather than hiding, Fearful Fox begins to stand tall with Brave Bear. They start by facing small fears, growing more confident each time a fear is confronted. Through these actions, they move closer to finding balance and earning the Earth Patch.

Water Patch

Purpose:
Provides emotional fluidity, allowing for the release of past burdens and fostering forgiveness, both towards oneself and others.

Attainment:
Overcoming guilt that prevents emotional growth.

Maintenance:
Balancing guilt and forgiveness.

Guilty Gecko’s guilt blocks the Water Patch, and the only way to open it is through the leadership of Forgiving Frog’s forgiveness. Together, these steps are taken:

  • Acknowledge Guilt: Guilty Gecko recognizes feelings of guilt and understands how feelings impact daily life. Acknowledging these feelings is essential rather than ignoring them. Guilty Gecko’s tendency to linger on guilt, often prevents progress.
  • Invite Forgiveness: Forgiving Frog encourages Guilty Gecko to embrace self-forgiveness for past mistakes, sharing stories that highlight the power of moving on. While Forgiving Frog promotes a quick resolution, there is a risk of not fully processing important lessons learned from past experiences.
  • Release the Past: Instead of dwelling on past mistakes, Guilty Gecko begins to practice letting go. Small moments where forgiveness can be extended are identified, fostering a sense of lightness and growth. This process requires patient, as Guilty Gecko sometimes struggles to let go, while Forgiving Frog must also ensure not to rush the healing process.

Fire Patch

Purpose:
Provides empowerment, allowing for self-acceptance, confidence, and the ability to express one’s authentic self.
Attainment:
Overcoming shame that inhibits self-acceptance and confidence. Being able to digest or accept an entire situation as it is.
Maintenance:
Balancing acceptance and self-confidence.

Shameful Sheep’s shame blocks the Fire Patch, and the only way to attain it is through the leadership of Proud Peacock’s acceptance and confidence. Together, these steps are taken:

  • Acknowledge Shame: Shameful Sheep recognizes feelings of shame and understands how these feelings impact daily life. This acknowledgment is crucial, as ignoring shame only deepens the struggle. However, there’s a tendency to dwell on feelings of inadequacy, leading to increased avoidance.
  • Invite Acceptance: Proud Peacock encourages Shameful Sheep to embrace self-acceptance and gratitude for who they are, sharing stories that highlight the beauty of authenticity, While this fosters growth, Proud Peacock must also be mindful not to overshadow others’, their feelings or pressure them to perform. 
  • Step into the Spotlight: Instead of hiding, Shameful Sheep begins to practice stepping into the spotlight, starting with small interactions. Proud Peacock supports these moments by celebrating small victories, fostering  a sense of confidence and empowerment. However, Proud Peacock’s exuberance may sometimes unintentionally intimidate Shameful Sheep, requiring sensitivity in approach.

Air Patch

Purpose:
Provides emotional openness and connection, fostering love, compassion, and the ability to express and process grief.

Attainment:
Overcoming grief that inhibits love and connection.

Maintenance:
Balancing grief and love.

Grieving Gorilla’s grief blocks the Air Patch, and the only way to attain it is through the leadership of Loving Lion’s love and support. Together, these steps are taken:

  • Acknowledge Grief: Grieving Gorilla recognizes feelings of grief and understands how these feelings impact daily life. This acknowledgment is crucial, as avoiding grief only deepens the struggle. However, there’s a tendency to dwell excessively on the past, leading to further sorrow.
  • Invite Love: Loving Lion encourages Grieving Gorilla to embrace love and connection with others, sharing stories that highlight the healing power of companionship. While this fosters growth, Loving Lion must also be mindful not to rush Grieving Gorilla’s healing process.
  • Let Go of Control: Instead of trying to control every situation, Grieving Gorilla begins to practice letting go, starting with small moments of connection. Loving Lion supports these moments by creating joyful experiences, fostering a sense of hope and healing. However, Grieving Gorilla’s reluctance to engage may sometimes challenge Loving Lion’s exuberance, requiring patience and different approaches.

Sound Patch

Purpose:
Provides the ability to communicate openly, encouraging honesty, integrity, and clarity in both expression and action.

Attainment:
Overcoming dishonestly and confusion that inhibit clear communication. Being able to voice the truth without causing harm.

Maintenance:
Balancing truth and lying in communications.

Lying Lemur’s dishonesty blocks the Sound Patch, and the only way to attain it is through the leadership of Truthful Turtle’s honesty and integrity. However, both lying, and truth play a role, and together, these steps are taken:

  • Acknowledge Dishonesty: Lying Lemur recognizes when lying occurs and hot it impacts relationships. It acknowledges that sometimes small lies serve a purpose, such as to protect someone’s feelings or avoid conflict when someone isn’t in a place to understand the reality of a situation and excessive or self-serving dishonesty creates confusion and distrust.
  • Invite Truth: Truthful Turtle encourages Lying Lemur to embrace honesty with care. Being too blunt or rigid with the truth can harm others, so Truthful Turtle shares the importance of balancing truth with fact. While truth fosters trust and clarity, it can also lead to difficult confrontations if not delivered thoughtfully.
  • Consider the Motive: Both characters reflect on why they lie or tell the truth. Lying Lemur learns that lying is often a quick solution for self-benefit and causes long-term damage. Truthful Turtle realizes that telling the truth is admirable and can sometimes be hurtful if not done with empathy. Together, they learn that each has a place in different situations, and balance is key to effective intentional communication. 

Insight Patch

Purpose:
Enhances clarity, wisdom, and insight, enabling one to see beyond illusions and make wise, informed decisions.

Attainment:
Overcoming confusion and illusion that cloud understanding and decision-making.

Maintenance:
Balancing illusion and insight to stay grounded in reality while remaining open to new perspectives.

Illusionary Iguana’s confusion and illusions block the Insight Patch. Only through Insightful Owl’s wisdom and clarity can the Patch be attained. Both illusion and insight play vital roles in the journey, and together, they take the following steps:

  • Recognizes the Illusions: Illusionary Iguana must first acknowledge when it’s creating or living in illusions. These illusions often stem from discomfort, misunderstanding itself or the world. Though sometimes comforting, illusions prevent progress and healthy decision-making.
  • Seek Clarity: Insightful Owl helps Illusionary Iguana see things as they truly are. By offering wise advice and guiding Iguana through confusion, Owl shows that insight helps clear the fog of illusion. Insightful Owl sometimes struggles to be mindful of not overwhelming Illusionary Iguana with too much reality at once.
  • Question Reality: Both characters reflect on their reality. Illusionary Iguana learns that living in a fantasy can feel comfortable and that comfort is often a trap which leads to further disconnection from reality, confusion and miscommunication. Insightful Owl realizes that insight can sometimes be intimidating or hard to accept, so presenting it intentionally, with care fosters understanding. Together, they discover that it’s important to balance insight with illusion while staying in touch with physical reality. 

Crown Patch

Purpose:
Enhances connection and perception beyond the physical senses, acceptance, and the ability to let go, fostering peace, clarity, and a deep sense of freedom.
Attainment:
Overcoming attachment and fear that hinders growth, embracing acceptance, and learning to let go.
Maintenance:
Balancing attachment with the ability to accept change and let go to stay connected with a higher sense of peace and freedom.

Attached Antelope’s strong attachment and fear of being along block the Crown Patch. The path to attaining it is through Free Falcon’s acceptance and ability to let go. Both attachment and acceptance heave a role to play, and together they follow these steps:

  • Recognize Attachment: Attached Antelope first acknowledges its attachment to people, things, and past experiences. It recognizes that these attachments provide temporary comfort and ultimately do not provide lasting happiness while holding it back from moving forward, growing, and maintaining happiness.
  • Embrace Acceptance: Free Falcon helps Attached Antelope understand that accepting reality as it is and letting go of what no longer serves is key to freedom. While attachment can provide safety, it also creates limitations, whereas acceptance fosters peace and forward movement. Falcon teaches Antelope that by letting go, it can gain a deeper connection to itself and others.
  • Consider the Fear: Both characters reflect on the fear behind attachment and the freedom found in letting go. Attached Antelope learns that fear of the unknown and change keeps it clinging to the familiar, even when it’s no longer helpful. Free Falcon realizes that sometimes people hold onto things for a season, mostly as part of their own personal experience and while involvement is needed to experience freedom, patience plays just as important a role. Together, they discover that acceptance and letting go doesn’t mean detachment from people but rather a healthy connection that allows room for personal growth.
